So it has been way too long since I have posted.  If you’ve checked my site before, you’ve probably noticed that I re-did my website.  Hopefully, you like it.  I’ve been pretty busy all summer.  I’ve been working, applying for jobs, and working on the game Crimson Crow. It’s an indie game that I’ve been working on with some friends.  Check it out, it’s pretty cool!  I’ll be posting more soon.

WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! “Wow” is all I can say about Fallout 3. (No, not WoW.) My goodness, Fallout 3 was fantastic. I’m so glad I bought the collector’s edition of the game, because it was worth every penny. (Not that it really enhanced the game in anyway…haha) I don’t even know where to begin.

I have to admit that I never played the first two Fallout games, but I hope to eventually when I have some more time. I’m mainly an FPS and RTS player, but I love these new RPG/FPS games that have been coming out such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Fallout 3 really did a wonderful job with the immersion. I was taken in instantly. I had started playing at 1am and next thing you know it was 5am. Not many games have had that effect on me before. Another thing I really enjoyed was toning down the music so that I could only hear the wind when going through the wasteland. The ambient music and the radio stations were great. The combat system was pretty solid, but not as fluid as many other fps games. If you’re a console gamer, you almost always have to use the V.A.T.S targeting system.

The storyline was very enjoyable, but I took my time with it. It took me about a solid month to beat the game. I did every side quest I could find, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I didn’t find it very repetitive like some of the quests in S.T.A.L.K.E.R, which is a good thing. One thing that I really look forward to is playing the game over again. I feel like the re-play value is really high because there are so many different ways to complete the game. I also want to play it again because there are some parts I wished I had done differently. What really blew me away about this game was that it left me with a personal moral dilemma more than once. I tried to be the best person I could be in the game. (My Pip-Boy said I was Jesus) That’s a true sign of a fantastic game; being able to affect your player on an emotional level.

I love the art-style that’s in the game. It’s like a quasi 1940s, 1980s Mad Max’s Road Warrior Punk theme, and futuristic post-apocolyptia. That has to be a run on. Bethesda does a great job leaving the game with a dark humor undertone. Many times I would chuckle to myself. Some of the textures seem washed out or are very low resolution, but everything still really looks good and comes together well. There is also an HD texture pack that was released on the PC, but make sure you have a computer that can handle that, because your FPS will take a dive.

The Lone Wanderer and Dogmeat? Nope, its Mad Max.

The Lone Wanderer and Dogmeat? Nope, it's Mad Max.

The game was initially pretty buggy and plagued by some nasty random freezing problems, but that has since been fixed with the patches. It has an intriguing story and its fun to choose your own destiny whether it be good or evil. Other than some initial bugs and clunky free-aim, there’s not much that I can say is wrong with this game. If you are over 18, not scared or repulsed by lots of gore, and looking for a great RPG/FPS, then you should definitely not let this one pass you up.

9/10
